Who this service is for

This service is for men in Florida who have trouble getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sex, whether it is new or has been happening for a while. You do not need a referral, and it is a normal, confidential medical conversation.

Why a medical evaluation matters

Erectile dysfunction often has more than one cause. Common contributors include blood vessel health, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking, certain medications, low testosterone, poor sleep, stress, and relationship or mood concerns. Because ED can sometimes be an early sign of heart disease or diabetes, the clinician may recommend checking these as part of your care.

What your visit covers

  • your symptoms, how long they have been present, and what makes them better or worse;
  • your medical history, especially heart health, blood pressure, and diabetes;
  • all current medications and supplements, including any nitrate medicines for chest pain;
  • lifestyle factors such as sleep, alcohol, tobacco, and stress.

Treatment options

Depending on your evaluation, options may include addressing underlying conditions, adjusting habits that affect blood flow, and, when appropriate, prescription oral medication. Some people are better served by referral to a urologist or another specialist. A prescription is considered only when it is safe and clinically appropriate for you, and it is never guaranteed. Certain ED medications can be dangerous when combined with nitrates, so the clinician will review your medication list carefully.

Labs

When appropriate, the clinician may suggest labs such as blood sugar or hemoglobin A1c, a lipid panel, or testosterone testing to look for contributing conditions. Learn more about routine labs and low testosterone evaluation.

Video Visit or Text Visit?

Please book a Video Visit for your first ED visit so the clinician can review your heart health and medications. Text Visits are reserved for a short list of simple, qualifying acute concerns (upper respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection, gout, and ear infection). The clinician will let you know what follow-up format is appropriate for you.

What to expect

  1. Request a Video Visit through the secure SimplePractice patient portal.
  2. Talk privately with the clinician about symptoms, health history, and medications.
  3. Complete labs if recommended.
  4. Agree on a plan and follow up to see how it is working.

When to seek in-person or emergency care

Call 911 or go to the nearest ER for an erection lasting longer than four hours, chest pain or pressure (including during sexual activity), fainting, or sudden vision or hearing loss. Seek in-person care for pain, curvature, or injury to the penis.

Clinical decisions, including whether treatment may include a prescription, are made after evaluation. Nothing on this site guarantees a prescription or a particular outcome.

Erectile Dysfunction Care FAQ

Will I be prescribed ED medication?

Not necessarily. Medication is considered only after the clinician reviews your symptoms, health history, and current medications and decides it is safe and clinically appropriate. Prescriptions and outcomes are never guaranteed.

Can erectile dysfunction be a sign of another health problem?

Sometimes. ED can be linked to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, low testosterone, and other conditions, which is why the visit reviews your overall health.

I take nitrates for chest pain. Can I use ED medication?

Certain ED medications can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure when combined with nitrates. Always tell the clinician about every medication you take, and do not combine them on your own.

Is my ED visit private?

Yes. Visits take place through the secure SimplePractice patient portal and are a confidential conversation between you and the clinician.
